The word "doula" is a Greek word meaning "servant to women". For the past 20 years, documentation and studies have cited that doula care can potentially reduce the needs for Cesarean-sections up to 80%. (Wow right?) This service provides women in childbirth a shorter labor with fewer complications, reduce the need for Pitocin, less use of forceps, less use of epidural anesthesia, fewer c-sections, and overall less stress for the laboring mother. They help laboring mothers cope with pain, understand their birth options, and support you and your birth plan. Who doesn't want unconditional support during this intimate time?

So how does it work? Here's a quick look into the process:

This interview process is a meet and greet. I take time to meet with you and your partner to go over details and answer any questions you may have for me regarding doulas or having me as a part of your birth team. This is a free consultation that ensures we are a good fit. As we move forward with the process, I am available 24/7 by phone call, text, email, throughout your pregnancy for any questions or concerns you may have.

Prenatal appointments are all about the wishes of the family. I meet with you and your partner to plan and discuss all things birth and beyond. I normally recommend 2 prenatal visits. Extra prenatal appointments will be added on to final package. These prenatal appointments are key for doula and family to bond and prepare for the birth of the little one.

Since we never really know when babies are going to make their grand entrance into this world, I go on call for you and your family 2 weeks before your due date, and 2 weeks after. I am available for all families through out the pregnancy. When you go into labor, I come to your home, hospital, birthing center, etc, to meet you to guide you through the labor. I use techniques such massage, essential oils, rebozo, and much more during this special time. These techniques are discussed at the prenatal appointments, so I am aware of what you and your family are comfortable with.

You did it! Your precious babe(s) is born! Although one postpartum visit is included in your package, more are available if needed. Never be afraid to ask. These are typically in the home of the family, as these postpartum appointments are to help make sure family is adjusting.

The placenta is an organ made by you for you. Using your placenta for medicinal properties during your postpartum period can be very beneficial. I am a trained Placenta Specialist through Brilliant Birth Academy. I offer encapsulations, tinctures, art, and many other services. If you are curious about this process, feel free to reach out and we can go over benefits, the process, and any other questions you may have regarding your placenta!

I am a firm believer that all families who want a doula, should have a doula. There for I work on a sliding scale. My prices vary from family to family. NEVER hesitate to reach out to me regarding your personal situation. I am willing to work with you! In addition, doula services benefit mother and infant health and over all insurance costs. Depending on your birth plan, doula services can be partially or fully reimbursed by your insurance company. I am able to help you through this process and filing a claim should you chose do to so.
