ABOUT your doula
Hello all! My name is Olivia Martinez and I am a birth advocate. My doula journey began in 2017. I was trained through DONA International and I am currently working towards final certification. I have also completed the DONA approved Breastfeeding workshop. In addition, I have been trained through the Brilliant Birth Academy to use essential oils for laboring mothers and postpartum. I was also trained through Brilliant Birth Academy to become a placenta encapsulator. My education doesn't stop here! I am currently enrolled at Florida State Community College of Jacksonville, working towards Nursing School with long term plans to pursue Midwifery. For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for all things women's health and babies. Going through female health issues at a young age, I found myself drawn to women's health. I began researching alternative practices using natural resources. This allowed me to not only improve my own health, but led me to helping other women. I remember as a young girl, I was fascinated with pregnancy and newborns, always wanting to lend a helping hand. I started working in pediatrics
while still in high school and I quickly realized my heart was in the newborns and mothers. I knew I wanted to be involved with birth and babies but was unsure of what role I wanted to play. In 2015, I got the opportunity to travel to a third world country, not knowing how much it would change me. I was able to help with births and newborns in Guatemala, and I found my passion for childbirth and fell in love with the work. Shortly after, I began my doula journey and I found my calling in supporting women. Ever since then, my love for supporting women has grown exponentially. I truly believe I have found my calling, and I'm so thankful my passion has led to me helping others.
